Beach Hut Hire (Walton-on-the-Naze): Mickey

(1 customer review)

In light of the current restrictions and taking on board our learning from 2020, we have not yet opened our books for 2021 bookings.

Want to know what, how and when – then pop over to our beach hut hire page HERE with all our FAQS too.  You’ll also be able to sign up to our email list to get notifications as soon as they go on sale.

In the meantime – please see below for the full description of the beach hut and our gallery of photos too!

Spring/Summer – £50 (May to September);  Autumn/Winter – £35 (October to April)

Where can I find the beach hut?

You see that big M? Well yep, that’s where Mickey (and Minnie) are.  Based in the quieter Eastcliff, as the tide heads out, you can hit the beach ready to search for those shark teeth!

He is on the second row, however this row is raised up with a small balcony the same width of the beach hut to allow uninterrupted views.   To make the most of the space, the decking on both huts is joined with one set of stairs, however each hut retains it’s own balcony secure for little ones and four-legged friends.

Oh and on the green behind you’ll find a fab children’s play park.

Suitable For?

Maximum of 6 people, in and out of the hut, including babies and children.

Due to the steps up to the hut, our beach hut is perfect for couples, individuals seeking time out, a group of friends or families with children. The balcony is closed off with a small gate –  perfect for allowing hands-free day with young children or your beloved pooch!   Due to the steep steps up to the hut, this does make access difficult for those who may have mobility issues.

Note that if you do require more than 6 guests, why not hire two huts together (just book Minnie too!)?

Can I bring my dog?

Of course ….. Well, the huts were inspired by my very own English Springer Spaniel – Millie!

The one downside of Eastcliff however, is that there is dog ban immediately in front of the huts from 1 May to 30 September. So while you can have them on leads on the promenade but otherwise, you’ll need to walk down the neighbouring’ll need to walk a few metres towards the pier to be allowed on the beach.

If you’d prefer complete freedom for your pooch – then book outside of those dates or check out our huts in the Southcliff part of Walton.

Where are the nearest facilities?

You can find baby changing and toilets just 6 huts away at those steps.

You will need to turn right at bottom of the steps and wlak along a frutehr 10 beach huts to find the tap.

In each Beach Hut, you will find a plastic water container which can be used to fill up and provide you with water during your stay.

As above, do remember that if you are booked between 1st October and 1 April, you will need to bring your own bottled water (taps are removed to avoid freezing).

Where can I Park?

As you can see from the map above, there are a number of residential streets immediately behind the beach huts and there are a number of streets that lead onto the main road above the promenade.

Parking is free in the area but will be very very busy during peak seasons. Do arrive early and if you do need to park on residential streets, be prepared to walk with your items to the beach huts.

What time can I arrive and depart? Can I sleep overnight?

Due to popular demand and it’s great success, we extended our operating hours in 2016 to 9 am to 8 pm.

Unfortunately, you cannot sleep overnight in our beach huts but the late departure time will allow you to arrive for bacon rolls and leave the beach hut post some fish and chips!   A number of our guests brought PJs with them for the younger members of the family – a quick change pre-car journey and much easier once home!

What will I find in the Beach Hut?   Do I need to bring anything?

In normal circumstances – we’d normally provide everything you need for a day at the beach. However, in these bananas times, we’ve had to restrict our contents to ensure the safety of our team who clean daily but also yourselves as guests.

Unfortunately, this has meant removing, beach toys, games, books and tea, coffee and sugar.

Please do feel free to bring yours along (gas stove, kettle and crockery all still in place) but if you feel uncomfortable using our crockery, then do pack your own.

Don’t forget the all-important – MILK, BIN BAGS (please take all rubbish home or deposit in bins on the promenade) and TEA TOWELS for washing up.

There are lots of shops on the way into Walton if you forget, there are lots of shops on the way into Walton, and you’ll find a Tesco express in the centre of Walton itself and a newly opened Marks and Spencers (perfect if you’d like to pre-order picnic platters). You’ll also find the seafront cafe’s and Pier open during peak times.

How do I pay?

Our payment is safe and secure, using PayPal.  But don’t worry if you don’t have a PayPal account to use – we accept credit and debit cards and when you checkout, you’ll be guided through the process.  Payment will be taken in full at time of booking.

We will refund the full value of your booking less £15 if cancelled more than two weeks pre your booking.  Unfortunately, we cannot refund any bookings that are cancelled less than two weeks pre your date.

What else do I need to know?

The only things left is read our T&Cs.   I want you to have fun and for your day out to be the best it can – please do take 5 minutes to read through these.  My biggest plea is to keep to the numbers of guests we have stipulated.

One of the many reasons questioned for the licence change of our prior huts on the private development was that there were too many ‘large’ parties and I know I found myself calling some parties direct who had several other guests with them or who happened to be in the area.   We have incurred a significant amount of cost due to this – please help us avoid this with our new huts.    Any parties found to be breaching those T&Cs will be asked to leave (sorry to be a stickler but we’ve been badly burnt by this one!!).

Please do look at our FAQs if it hasn’t been covered above.

What happens next?

You’ll receive a confirmation email post payment and a followup email containing all the information above so that you have this to hand.

Two weeks pre your booking, you’ll receive another email from us with a code to access the beach hut (key safe has codes regularly changed for security and contains keys to the hut).   We do not currently operate a meet and greet service to give you flexibility re your arrival time but you’ll find someone close by who may pop by to check that everything is how you expect.

  1. Karen Beck (verified owner)

Recently stayed at Mickeys beach hut , I took my 2 yr old granddaughter and she absolutely loved it. The hut was very quirky and very Mickey , we loved it The view over the beach was great , the only downside was that the local cafes were all closed and the tide didn’t go out until 3pm ish. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again.
