After a few days of being cooped up in meetings, I’m looking forward to getting out in the fresh air this weekend and suspect you are also looking forward to a Family Day Out over Fathers Day weekend.
Whilst not Essex based, I’m stupidly excited to be seeing Coldplay this Saturday at Wembley. I’m a huge fan and having seen them around 5 years ago at the 02, I quickly snapped up tickets when they were released last year! Me – excited – yes again!!!
The one thing that I can’t help but notice is the increasing price of concert tickets – I know that the market has changed with online music and this must be one of the very limited ways to generate money in the industry but it’s always painful buying tickets at high prices. I can only imagine how hard it is for families that want to introduce their kids to live music and see their own favourite bands as a family.
One of my favourite gigs ever was Franz Ferdinand at Brixton Academy back in 2004 – I think the ticket was around £20 and I’d only managed to secure upstairs tickets. We ended up standing right at the back, which should have made it hard to enjoy the atmosphere but they really just ‘owned’ the crowd and atmosphere that day. A lesson learnt that sometimes you don’t need to buy the top end ticket and that seat, a little further back can help you take it all in and experience the event at a reduced cost.
Anyway – If you are going to see Coldplay this weekend (or already have) – ENJOY! If not, there are a huge number of activities happening right on your doorstep in Essex this very weekend – why not treat Dad? It is Father’s Day weekend after all.
