Where can I find Harley?
Harley is the beach hut furthest from the Pier and close to the corner on the promenade where you turn round a corner towards The Leas and Frinton-on-Sea.
With the Pier on your left, you will need to walk towards Frinton right down to the far corner and thus I always recommend using one of the paths down from Southview Drive or Woodberry Way to shorten your journey down (assuming you’ll be laden with picnic and goodies for the day!).
No need to worry about being too far from toilets and water taps as these are close by during the peak season.
Whilst on the front row there are a small number of steps (5) down to the Promenade (with a handrail close by), which gives you fantastic views out over the beach and seawall. Very useful and peaceful during high tide.
Do feel free to move furniture and chairs and sit directly on the Promenade itself. You’ll find your neighbours do the same too!
Maximum of 8 people, in and out of the hut, including babies and children.
Due the steps directly in front of the hut, Harley is perfect for couples, individuals seeking time out, or families with older children. If you don’t mind keeping a closer eye on young children or situating yourself at the bottom of the steps (feel free to move chairs and furniture onto the promenade if you prefer) then you’ll always have a perfect view and be able to leave the hut open whilst on the beach.
Great for those who like to be a bit further removed from the busy pier and busier sections of the beach. You can guarantee that you’ll have uninterrupted sand castle building!
Can I bring my dog?
Well, Harley is a family four-legged member so how could we not allow them!!! As with all our of our huts, dogs are more than welcome though during peak seasons, a prior agreement is required for more than one average size dog. We do find we accommodate this subject to the overall party sizes – don’t be scared to ask before booking, I haven’t turned down one yet!
Walton’s beach directly in front of Harley is dog-friendly all year round. You have a good few miles of beach all year to explore and let them off lead. As with all outdoor locations – do please remember to clean-up (and if you forget your ‘poo-bags’ you’ll find a few spares in the beach hut) along with a water bowl too.
Where are the nearest facilities to Harley?
A water tap is located just behind beach huts 167 and 168 (turn left as you come out of the hut and 7/8 huts away you’ll spot a small gap with some steps leading up to a tap). Good news as I like a cup of tea in a beach hut and it makes it all that bit easier to fill up the kettle.
During the winter months, the taps are removed by Tendering Council to avoid burst taps (tend to be from early December to just before easter). If you are booked during these dates, I’ll inform you as soon as I’m aware. There are also toilets approx 50 m away (situated behind the next block of beach huts) though these are again closed during the winter months.If hiring during winter and over Christmas and New Year, the facilities at the Pier are open all year around.
There are also toilets approx 1-2 minutes walk away – again turn left as you come out of Harley and head towards the Pier. You’ll spot a large gap with a white building tucked behind some huts which contain both male and female toilets. If you’ve had to walk down the steps then you’ve gone too far. These will be closed during the winter months, though, if hiring during winter and over Christmas and New Year, the facilities at the Pier are open all year around.
Where can I Park?
You may find you are able to park on the residential streets nearby and in the station car park. However, there is a large public car park near the station and pier (Church Road, CO14 8DE).
Please do be courteous and note the restrictions that may be in place if parking on a residential street. I’ve found if I arrive very early, I’ve been able to park on Woodberry Way/Southview drive and cut down one of the paths onto the promenade.
What time can I arrive and depart? Can I sleep overnight?
Due to popular demand and its great success, we’ll be operating our extended hours of 9 am to 8 pm during the summer. Unfortunately, you cannot sleep overnight in our beach huts but the late departure time will allow you to arrive for bacon rolls and leave the beach hut post some fish and chips!
A number of our guests brought PJs with them for the younger members of the family – a quick change pre-car journey and much easier once home! Don’t forget that talc for removing sand (I know.. I didn’t know about that tip either until I bought my first beach hut!).
What will I find in Harley? Do I need to bring anything?
In normal circumstances – we’d normally provide everything you need for a day at the beach. However, in these bananas times, we’ve had to restrict our contents to ensure the safety of our team who clean daily but also yourselves as guests.
Unfortunately, this has meant removing, beach toys, games, books and tea, coffee and sugar.
Please do feel free to bring yours along (gas stove, kettle and crockery all still in place) but if you feel uncomfortable using our crockery, then do pack your own.
Don’t forget the all-important – MILK, BIN BAGS (please take all rubbish home or deposit in bins on the promenade) and TEA TOWELS for washing up.
There are lots of shops on the way into Walton if you forget, and you’ll find a Tesco express in the centre of Walton itself. You’ll also find the seafront cafe’s and Pier open during peak times.
How do I pay?
Our payment is safe and secure, using PayPal. Don’t worry if you don’t have a PayPal account to use – we accept credit and debit cards and when you checkout, you’ll be guided through the process (just click on PayPal option – when you get to PayPal screen then you’ll see an option to pay without an account. Payment will be taken in full at time of booking.
We will refund the full value of your booking less £15 if cancelled more than two weeks pre your booking. Any bookings cancelled less than two weeks in advance are non-refundable.
What else do I need to know?
The only things left is read our T&Cs. I want you to have fun and for your day out to be the best it can – please do take 5 minutes to read through these. My biggest plea is to keep to the numbers of guests we have stipulated.
One of the many reasons questioned for the licence change of our prior huts on the private development was that there were too many ‘large’ parties and I know I found myself calling some parties direct who had several other guests with them or who happened to be in the area. We have incurred a significant amount of cost due to this and were forced to sell our original two huts – please help us avoid this with our new huts. Any parties found to be breaching those T&Cs will be asked to leave (sorry to be a stickler but we’ve been badly burnt by this one!!).

What happens next?
You’ll receive a confirmation email post payment and a follow-up email two weeks pre your booking containing all the information above so that you have this to hand.
This will also contain a code to access the beach hut (key safe has codes regularly changed for security and contains keys to the hut). We do not currently operate a meet and greet service to give you flexibility re your arrival time but you’ll find someone close by will pop by to check that everything is how you expect.
