Not sure what to expect from a day in Millie?
Dear Beautiful has captured a recent family day out perfectly in her video below:
TOWERGATE BEACH HUT OF THE YEAR FINALIST – 2016
Millie: our energetic, water obsessed English Springer Spaniel and the main reason behind our first beach hut purchase.
With striking pink base and sea green doors, you’ll find this stunning Beach Hut for Hire on the second row on Southcliff Promenade, Walton on the Naze, Essex
Spring/Summer – £50(May to September); Autumn/Winter – £35 (October to April)
Where can I find Millie?
With the Pier on your left, walk towards Frinton and you’ll find Millie around 100m from the Pier. You’ll spot a pink and white wheelchair accessible hut and a small path (if you go past the cafe you’ve gone too far). on the left-hand side, you’ll spot a small garden area which is maintained by our lovely beach hut neighbour – we are the second hut in (20B). With 5 steps up to her balcony, Millie is elevated up with her decking at the same height as the front row. With a small balcony, she’s worth the 5 step climb as this is perfect for those who want complete privacy from passersby (no-one walking past at this level) and on a very small row of huts. With the balcony enclosed with a gate to the stairs comes privacy and security for those young ones and four legged visitors. A fantastic view directly onto the beach which allows visitors to watch over those directly on the beach (as just a few steps away) and stunning interior to relax within.
Maximum of 6 people, in and out of the hut, including babies and children.
Due the steps up to the hut, Millie is perfect for couples, individuals seeking time out, a group of friends or families with children. The balcony is closed off with a small gate – perfect for allowing hands free day with young children or your beloved pooch! Due to the steps up to the hut, this does make access difficult for those who may have mobility issues.
Close to the pier, great for those who are active but far enough removed from the promenade if you wish to just sit and take in the view.
The winter months can offer great ‘sea spray’ viewings with the sea often spraying onto the lower beach huts.
Can I bring my dog?
Well, Millie couldn’t be named after our Millie and not allow furry friends!! As with all our of our huts, dogs are more than welcome though during peak seasons, a prior agreement is required for more than one average size dog. We do find we accommodate this subject to the overall party sizes – don’t be scared to ask before booking.
Walton’s beach directly in front of Millie is dog-friendly all year round. You have a good few miles of beach all year to explore and let them off lead. As with all outdoor locations – do please remember to clean-up (and if you forget your ‘poo-bags’ you’ll find a few spares in the beach hut.
Where are the nearest facilities to Millie?
A water tap is just one beach hut away – making it all that bit easier to fill up the kettle. During the winter months, the taps are removed by Tendering Council to avoid burst taps (tend to be from early December to just before easter). The closest toilets are at the pier (along with baby changing facilities) open as a minimum from 8 am to 6 pm (later in the summer months). There is another option further towards Frinton and our other Walton beach hut for hire (Isla). These are closed during the winter months.
Where can I Park?
You may find you are able to park on the residential streets nearby and in the station car park. However, there is a large public car park near the station and pier (Church Road, CO14 8DE).
Please do be courteous and note the restrictions that may be in place if parking on a residential street.
What time can I arrive and depart? Can I sleep overnight?
Due to popular demand and it’s great success, we’ll be operating our extended hours of 9 am to 8 pm. Unfortunately, you cannot sleep overnight in our beach huts but the late departure time will allow you to arrive for bacon rolls and leave the beach hut post some fish and chips! A number of our guests brought PJs with them for the younger members of the family – a quick change pre-car journey and much easier once home!
What will I find in Millie? Do I need to bring anything?
One of the best things about our beach huts is that we make sure everything is here for you including that all-important bucket and spade (and even a little oven in Isla!). We’ll email you a full ist of contents upon booking so that you have these to hand, however, you can also find the full list HERE.
Three things we ask you bring: MILK, BIN BAGS (please take all rubbish home or deposit in bins on the promenade) and TEA TOWELS for washing up.
Don’t worry if you forget to pack milk (tea, coffee, sugar is provided).. there are lots of shops on the way into Walton, and you’ll find a Tesco express in the centre of Walton itself. You’ll also find the seafront cafe’s and Pier open during peak times.
How do I pay?
Our payment is safe and secure, using PayPal. Don’t worry if you don’t have a PayPal account to use – we accept credit and debit cards and when you checkout, you’ll be guided through the process. Payment will be taken in full at time of booking.
We will refund the full value of your booking less £15 if cancelled more than two weeks pre your booking. If less than two weeks pre your booking, the full value is non-refundable.
What else do I need to know?
The only things left is read our T&Cs. I want you to have fun and for your day out to be the best it can – please do take 5 minutes to read through these. My biggest plea is to keep to the numbers of guests we have stipulated.
One of the many reasons questioned for the licence change of our prior huts on the private development was that there were too many ‘large’ parties and I know I found myself calling some parties direct who had several other guests with them or who happened to be in the area. We have incurred a significant amount of cost due to this – please help us avoid this with our new huts. Any parties found to be breaching those T&Cs will be asked to leave (sorry to be a stickler but we’ve been badly burnt by this one!!).
Please do look at our FAQs if it hasn’t been covered above.
What happens next?
You’ll receive a confirmation email post payment and a followup email containing all the information above so that you have this to hand.
One week pre your booking, you’ll receive another email from us with a code to access the beach hut (key safe has codes regularly changed for security and contains keys to the hut). We do not currently operate a meet and greet service to give you flexibility re your arrival time but you’ll find someone close by who may pop by to check that everything is how you expect.
