Where can I find The Hideaway?
The Hideaway is located on the E row (A row is front row), along a small row of beach huts overlooking the sandy Walton-on-the-Naze beach. While situated a little further back, you have stunning view over the beach and the pier, whilst maintaining your privacy while still being super close to all the action!
The owners have created a beautiful space to either get those creative juices flowing and inspire your work or chill out for the day.
In light of the space available outside of the beach hut – a maximum of 6 people (adults) in and out of the hut, or 8 including babies and children. However please do be aware of the limited space that is available due to the size of any beach hut. If you need to seek shade inside or due to adverse weather you want to be comfortable!
The Hideaway is perfect for couples, individuals seeking time out, or a family with children.
Can I bring my dog?
Due to an family member having extreme allergies, The Hideaway is not suitable for dogs. There are no exceptions permitted to this – do check out our other huts that can all welcome dogs!
Where are the nearest facilities to The Hideaway?
To locate the Southcliff Pier toilets turn right out of the hut and walk along the path until you reach the set of steps on your left. Follow the stairs down and once you reach the promenade turn left towards the Pier.
You’ll find baby changing and year round toilets available opposite the Pier. Around a 5 minute walk form the beach hut.
The closest tap can be found just a few steps away too. Turn right out of the hut and take the first set of steps on your left. The tap is located at the second row of beach huts.
Where can I Park?
You may find you are able to park on the residential streets nearby and in the station car park but be prepared to arrive early to get a space during the peak weekends and summer (particularly given the anticipated increase in visits during 2021).
Please do be courteous and note the restrictions that may be in place if parking on a residential street.
There is also a large public car park near the station and pier (Church Road, CO14 8DE) which is £6 for the full day.
If you do park here then take an of the slopes down between the beach huts onto the promenade rather than walking round to the Pier. Find a beach hut with the number on – then the lower numbers are towards the Pier. The Hideaway is E11 ;0)
What will I find in The Hideaway? Do I need to bring anything?
In normal circumstances – we’d normally provide everything you need for a day at the beach. However, in these bananas times, we continue to be very careful around our Covid Protocols to ensure everything is thoroughly cleaned per arrival.
Gas stove, kettle, crockery, cutlery and tea, coffee and sugar are all included for your use but if you feel uncomfortable using our crockery, then do pack your own.
Don’t forget the all-important – MILK, BIN BAGS (please take all rubbish home or deposit in bins on the promenade) and TEA TOWELS for washing up. Plus any beach bucket and spades and toys you’d like to use – The Hideaway has a some beach toys but we find that everyone has a fave and while we look to replace any breakages, it can sometimes be hard to track them down given demand for all things outdoors!
There are lots of shops on the way into Walton if you do forget anything, and you’ll find a Tesco Express in the centre of Walton itself along with a Marks and Spencer and Lidl nearby too.
You’ll also find the seafront cafe’s and Pier open during peak times. Personally, we love the cafe opposite the Pier (who also sell fab doggy ice cream) and Yates Fish and Chips which is a short 10-minute stroll away.
